Copper Locale is a small neighbourhood restaurant, and we like it that way. A handful of tables, all indoors, the biggest seating six to eight. For a celebration the whole room can be yours: 25 to 30 guests, depending on the night.

The kitchen keeps things simple and does them well. Queensland steaks over the live flame, fresh pasta, a proper burger, and native flavours like seared kangaroo and crocodile spring rolls. Come in for a date night, a family dinner, or a burger and a cold Pacific Ale after the beach.

The bar makes a short list of house cocktails and the cellar is small by design. If you have a special bottle at home, bring it: corkage is $15 per person.

Because the room is small, every seat counts. Please book for the number you expect, and give us a heads-up if your plans change. It lets us look after you, and the table next to you.

If you haven’t been, picture a quiet seaside village rather than a resort strip. Trinity Beach is a long, gently curving bay of pale sand with headlands at each end, calm water, palms along the esplanade and green hills rising straight behind the houses. It’s patrolled, with a stinger net in the warmer months, and the Earl Hill track at the southern end makes a good morning walk.

Copper Locale is part of that village, not on the sand. You’ll find us a few streets back from the beachfront, in the Coastwatcher centre on Rabaul Street, where locals do their shopping. Park out the front, or walk up from the esplanade after a swim or a sunset.

Not on the water, close to it. Think of us as the neighbourhood table you come back to once the beach day is done.
